Media’s Treatment Of Obama

Posted in Conclusion on November 17th, 2009 by admin – Be the first to comment

believe things have been pretty fair up to this point. Clinton has been rightfully scrutinized and so has Obama. Once the Clinton campaign leaked a photo of Obama wearing traditional garb during a visit to Africa, it was all over the news solidly for days, and is still commonly brought up. The idea that Obama should be scrutinized over the photo is nothing short of ridiculous, seeing as how there wasn’t anything wrong with it to begin with. The media made an issue out of a non-issue, something they are very good at.

The biased right-wing media that always claims the media is so liberal, has many of talking heads such as Bill Cunningham and Rush Limbaugh that are leading the “conservative movement” by bashing Obama for his Muslim middle-name every single day. Their voices carry a lot of weight in the world of conservative loons and are heard loudly and clearly every single day. I wouldn’t call this a free ride by any means.

For all of the fair and balanced news coverage, there is an equally powerful source of conservative propaganda. The existence of Fox News proves this. The negative tone introduced to the Democratic primary process by Hillary Clinton has also had its own influence on the media. Dan Abrams cries foul in Clinton’s defense every single weeknight on his MSNBC show. Shots have been taken at Obama from both the right-wing fanatics and the bitterly pathetic Clinton campaign. read more »

While the discipline of social media optimization is not nearly as advanced as SEO, it still holds a wealth of potential for the website owner. How can a business begin to optimize their site for social media?

     Below are some tips.

     What are Social Media Websites?

First, what is social media? The quintessential social media site is myspace. Myspace is completely user generated, in other words, all the content comes not from some mega corporation, but the users themselves. Other examples of social media sites are Facebook, Digg, del.icio.us, and Squidoo. Basically, a social media site creates a community of people with similar interests, and allows them to network and communicate on any given topic.

Social Media Management

When does internet marketing for free not make sense? When it’s ineffective, or dangerous to a company or brand, luckily social media management is neither ineffective nor dangerous like sending out spam or posting unsolicited messages on forums would be. Social media marketing is in effect the cheapest most direct way to retain a high value brand name while extending reach online.

While there are dozens of rules any social media marketer will want to apply to their daily outreach, starting by abiding to the social network’s terms of service is crucial. Getting to know the idiosyncrasies of each social network, such as Twitter and Facebook will allow for maximum productivity in the long run on such networks. The more you know about Twitter the more ways you can utilize the network to extend your band online.

After a firm understanding of the rules for each network is gleaned it is time to look into the human element of social media management, the site visitor. No matter the name of the website, all social networks are comprised of diverse groups of people that often share little in common with each other. Imagine walking into a train station, plopping a table down, and trying to peddle whatever it is that you sell online each day. While the physical meeting space is nonexistent online, the level of diversity is just as great. Thus you must aim to appeal to the masses without becoming bland or generic. read more »

The provider vows to offer internet service at a speed of up to 50 Mbps with an assurance to increase it further to 200 Mbps. The incredibly good internet speed lures users and hence the provider observes new subscriptions every now and then.

Virgin Broadband also boasts of being the first ‘quad play’ provider in UK. The provider tenders internet, digital TV, mobile phone connection and landline connection in the form of bundle to the subscribers. These bundles are relatively affordable than subscribing to each service individually. In bundled packages the user is required to avail all the services in the bundle offered by the provider. Bundled packages are lucrative for users who want all the facilities at inexpensive charges. However, users who prefer to opt for different services from their favored providers should not go for this option.

There are a number of packages offered by Virgin Media Broadband like the basic £5 per month package. It offers 10 MB speedy fibre optic broadband connection that facilitates quick music and videos download and rapid access of internet data that too at budgeted prices. The large £15 a month plan is another plan offered by the provider. The plan tenders a download speed of 10 Mb, a PC Guard Total and a free wireless “G” router. Media & Criminal Behavior

Movies, sports and other programs are the providers that we need to have a relaxing time. The emotion that we experience in the movies takes us to a different set of mind while we are watching. For a moment some of us might even believe that we are the actors of the movie, or we might just enjoy the beautiful sites in which the scene is taking place. Also, the excitement of the moment could even make us react by instinct, and jump out of our seats or make a sudden exclamation. We all know how much impact a terror movie can have on us or our children and that is why we choose to see it or not. I believe that for some people, the effect that media has on them does not stop when the movie, the news or the program that we are watching ends, and that this effect might be the cause of a change of behavior, and not always for the better.

     HOW MUCH MEDIA INFLUENCES BEHAVIOR?

According to Victor Hugo Bolanos, the author of “Impacto de la gran prensa”(the impact of the press), the message that a communicator or an actor wants to get through the mind of the viewer is one in which the observer identifies him-self to him. We can easily see it in young kids at the end of an action movie when they are running around claming to be Rambo, Rocky or any other movie hero. He also believes that some of the crimes that we hear about in the radio or television are the consequence of the violence that we see in the media since we were young. He gives an example the cartoons of Walt Disney in which Donald, Tom and Jerry, Porky or the Roadrunner are the inspiration for the kids to take into consideration deceitful acts against others, since those are the means that the characters us to confront their problems, and that these same children learn to transfer this to friends and Society. read more »
